The space
Welcome to our exceptional home located in the Luberon, in the heart of Provence. Nestled on the classified site of the ochres and in the Natura 2000 area, our historically significant house belonged in the 19th century to Pauline Jaricot, a social utopian who developed an altruistic and universalist project here.
Whether you wish to explore the picturesque villages of the Luberon, explore the hiking trails, relax by the pool, or simply immerse yourself in the sweet Provençal lifestyle, Parenthèse en Luberon is the perfect place for an enchanting break. Let yourself be seduced by the beauty of the region and enjoy a memorable stay in this little corner of Provençal paradise.
HOUSE
Our large building is divided into two separate sections. We live in the first part, while the second is dedicated to rental. It has 3 bedrooms and 2 suites with minimalist design, each equipped with a bathroom and a toilet, covering an area of 450 m². You can relax in the living room with a fireplace and share delicious moments with family or friends in the large dining room-kitchen. For a refreshing dip, you can enjoy our indoor heated pool with a liftable bottom.
On entering, the solid wooden door will reveal the history of this house, with its entrance hall and its majestic staircase made of baked terracotta tiles. You will discover a first living room at the entrance, with two large windows providing beautiful brightness. You will find a bench, inflatable armchairs and two small tables, one of which can also serve as a chessboard. Enjoy the warm atmosphere of this lounge, enhanced with a fireplace insert, books and children's games.
ROOMS
The house has several minimalist designed bedrooms and suites, each with its own bathroom and toilet:
On the ground floor, you will find the Parrain room, adapted for people with reduced mobility and overlooking the wooded area of Luberon trees. It can accommodate up to 3 people with its double bed in 160 and its sofa bed. You will also find a small glass desk, a walk-in shower with hand basin and an independent WC. An entrance hall with storage, mirror, and coat rack completes this space.
The Pappou room, located on the first floor, is equipped with a comfortable 140 bed, wooden bedside tables, and a cozy atmosphere. This room also includes a closet at the entrance, a private shower room with WC, shower, washbasin, and mirrors, as well as a small wooden desk with chair and bench. The two windows offer a view of the majestic plane trees bordering the property.
The Cousines room is the largest suite, composed of two rooms. The first, majestic with its 50 m² and its high ceiling, presents beautiful exposed beams, a double bed in 180 cm and a living room with a small glass desk and a vintage wooden pram. The second bedroom, formerly a dovecote, is equipped with a double bed in 140, an armchair and 2 child beds. This suite is completed by a bathroom with tiled shower, bathtub, two sinks and a separate WC.
The Amis room, one of the comfortable and quiet suites, offers a view of the ochres of Luberon. It includes a small living room with a sofa bed, a wooden desk, a portable air conditioner and a baby bed. A separate door leads to the bedroom with a double bed in 140, an armchair, a bench, and a storage cupboard. The room is accompanied by a private bathroom with bathtub and WC, as well as a double sink.
The Nonna room, located on the 2nd floor, offers a cozy and warm atmosphere with a wardrobe at the entrance, a double bed in 160 and a view of the garden plane trees. It also has a small glass desk, a bench, and a private shower room with WC, shower, washbasin, and mirror.
KITCHEN / DINING ROOM
The kitchen and dining room are located on the lower floor and open directly onto the garden with a view of the Luberon. The kitchen is equipped with built-in appliances: an oven, a microwave, a refrigerator, and a freezer, as well as 3 induction plates, a toaster, a kettle, and a Dolce Gusto coffee machine. Tables, benches, chairs, a wooden baby chair, and even a multi-game table (table football, basketball, hockey, billiards, ping-pong) are at your disposal.
INDOOR POOL
Finally, the centerpiece of the house is undoubtedly the 8m x 3m indoor pool with a liftable bottom at the desired height (maximum depth of 1.4m). A shower overlooking the pool and independent toilets are also available. You will also find comfortable sun loungers for relaxing.
EXTERIORS
The vast outdoor areas offer several zones with tables, chairs, sunbeds, and garden furniture, allowing you to enjoy the sun or shade under the plane trees. A stone table and chairs shaded by a pergola, as well as an electric barbecue, are at your disposal. Please be sure to watch your children closely near the pond, as even though it is protected by a small fence, the safety of our little explorers remains a priority. In this house, the owners share the outdoor spaces with the travelers.
CHILDREN'S AREA
Moreover, children can have fun in a playground specially designed for them, including a superb wooden treehouse with a 5m slide, a wooden swing and slide set, as well as a giant trampoline. We are looking forward to welcoming you with open arms for an unforgettable experience in this Provençal haven of peace.

The neighborhood
Located in the heart of the protected ochre zone of the Luberon Regional Natural Park, this unique house testifies to its rich history that has shaped both its structure and environment. Over time, it has been a mill, the residence of the master of a philanthropic iron forge, and an ocher farmhouse. Remnants of these diverse eras, like a basin, a millrace, a wall from the old iron factory, and a lime tree alley that recently served as a movie set, are still visible today. The charm of this dwelling lies in how its successive inhabitants adapted and utilized the site's natural resources.
Getting around
A visit to the Provençal Colorado can be made by bike or car. The area is dotted with charming hilltop villages, each with its unique character. In Apt, you can rent electric or traditional bikes and enjoy the bike path that runs from Forcalquier to Cavaillon. Moreover, hikes can be organized from the house itself.
Other things to note
We are Roxane and Martin, architects who have been living in Provence for a decade, after having resided in Paris, Rome, and Athens. We decided to make this idyllic place our home to raise our children, renovate the Provençal heritage, and design future-oriented projects. We are excited to share with you this historic house, where we have invested our heart and discoveries of this exceptional region!
